Hurdle

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS | UX DESIGN | WIREFRAMING | UI DESIGN

Introduction

Hurdle aims to support people in distress by giving them a platform designed specifically to communicate their problems and have easy access to self-care features. The application connects those who need help and those willing to help others. It also provides in-app self-care options such as educational videos and a gratitude list.

For this project, the client’s primary inspiration was Tinder’s profile swipe and wanted the application designed with similar functionality with the benefit of additional features. I created wireframes for the screens and designed the final screens after client feedback meeting.

Developing Wireframes

Initial Research & Competitive Analysis

I went through tinder and some other dating apps to understand how they function. After my research, I hand drew simple wireframes for the pages to have a general idea about how I want the different elements to be placed on the screens. I refined those wireframes and used them to design the final screens for Hurdle.
Hurdle was designed to ensure a smooth user-friendly interface for the user. The application aimed to provide comfort to its users and following those principles the screens have the necessary buttons and commands easily within the reach.

Application Features

Simple & Easy Registration

The Sign In and Sign Up screens are simple and easy to navigate through. The aim was to make the process of signing in fast so the user can enter the application as quickly as possible. After logging into the application, the user is directed to a page where they create their bio. The process is direct and leads the user through the most necessary information to swiftly create a complete bio.

User-Friendly Design

The design was kept clean and minimalistic. This would ensure that users are not overwhelmed while using the application. A study of people who have gone through trauma helped identify their behavioural patterns and it was determined that it would be easier to get them on board with a consistent and clear design.
